Islamabad Latest News – New price of petrol reaches Rs266.79, high-speed diesel at Rs272.98 per litre from July 1.
Petrol prices keep changing. This change affects everything, from transportation to goods, in Pakistan.
As of today, petrol costs Rs. Rs266.79 per litre, while high-speed diesel stays at Rs272.98 per litre. Light diesel is now Rs. 155.81 per litre.
Letβs look at whatβs behind these numbers.
π Why Do Fuel Prices Matter?
Fuel prices hit your pocket hard. When petrol or diesel prices go up, it becomes expensive to run cars, buses, and trucks. This also raises the cost of goods and services.
The Finance Division reviews prices twice a month. It releases updates after checking global crude oil prices, taxes, and local market trends.
In a recent press release, officials confirmed the prices will stay the same for now. This decision follows changes in the international crude oil market from October 2024 to February 2025.
π Current Fuel Prices in Pakistan β June 2025
Fuel Type | Old Price (PKR) | New Price (PKR) | Difference |
Petrol | 258.63 | 266.79 | +8.36 |
High-Speed Diesel | 262.59 | 272.98 | + 10.39 |
Light Diesel Oil | 161.06 | 155.81 | -5.25 |
Kerosene Oil | 174.06 | 171.65 | -3.20 |

π’οΈ What Is Petroleum and Why Does It Change?
Petroleum, or crude oil, is a natural liquid from deep underground. Refineries process it into many fuel types. Prices shift due to international oil markets, local taxes, and supply-demand trends.
Since 2023, fuel prices have moved up and down sharply. The trend continued through June 2024, November 2024, and now into 2025.

- Petrol (Super) β Premium fuel for bikes and cars.
