Petrol Price Stays the Same. Relief Will Have to Wait

Petrol Price Update in Pakistan – Latest News

The government has announced the latest petrol prices in Pakistan. As of now, the current petrol price is Rs. 253.17 per litre. The price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) stands at Rs. 257.08 per litre, while Light-Speed Diesel (LSD) is priced at Rs. 159.76 per litre.

Earlier, on April 18, 2025, the government had decided to keep fuel prices unchanged for two weeks. At that time, petrol was selling at Rs. 254.63 per litre, and diesel was priced at Rs. 258.64 per litre. The latest revision shows a slight reduction in both petrol and diesel prices.

Last week, expectations were high. Market reports suggested that petrol prices could fall by Rs. 8 to Rs. 12 per litre. Many people were hoping for major relief ahead of Eid. However, the reduction has been limited, and the anticipated price cut did not fully materialise.

Why No Change (Latest Fuel Prices)?

Officials say global oil prices are not stable. Also, the exchange rate is under pressure. As a result, they decided to maintain steady prices.

However, people are not happy. Fuel costs affect everything. When prices remain high, daily life becomes more challenging.

Abdul Rehman, a taxi driver in Rawalpindi, shared his frustration. “We thought petrol would be cheaper. It’s hard to manage now.”

Earlier, some news outlets even claimed a Rs70 per litre cut. But that was not true. The government later stated that it was part of a long-term plan, not an immediate price adjustment.

What’s Next?

The following price review is in two weeks. Until then, prices will not change. People still hope for a cut soon. It all depends on the global oil market and the value of the rupee.

For now, the wait continues. The relief hasn’t arrived, but maybe it’s still on the way.
